Final Blog Post of the First Semester

Good Morning!! That's right!  This is your final formal blog post of the first semester.  With that said, please take a moment and respond to the following questions:

1.  Through the project topic you have chosen for your final assignment, what change do you hope to see in your community?

2.  How will you demonstrate that this problem currently exists in your community?  It is important to recognize that your audience might not be made up entirely of people who are familiar with the issue.  If you can, give specific examples (even facts) that show the issue either has and/or currently does exist!

3.  What is one way that you, personally, can help change, fix or bring awareness to this issue in your community!

Nelson Mandela

Good Morning!!  Happy Tuesday!!  To kick off this morning I posted a quote from Nelson Mandela who passed away last week.  Mr. Mandela said, "do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."  ~ Nelson Mandela  What does this quote mean to you and why, in your opinion, would anyone want to be judged by the number of times they fell down and got back up?  In fact, what does that mean?

Thanks for your thoughtful response!  We will get started with Current Events shortly!

Staying Focused and Being Consistent!

Yesterday I actually sat down for a minute and watched some of the 49ers game.  The fact I was born and raised in the bay area and my wife's whole family is from Seattle - bragging rights were definitely on the line.  In any case, as I watched, Russell Wilson made a comment “You just take one day at a time and ignore the noise. It's about staying focused and being consistent on a daily basis - that's what a pro does."  What did Russell Wilson specifically mean when he made that comment and how does it extend to every part of your life and your future?  Specifically address the importance of staying focused, consistent and "ignoring the noise."  Thanks and we will get started shortly!

Current Event Round 6 Happens Today!

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!

Today marks the 1st 1/2 of our last round of current events for the Semester!  Oh where did the semester go?  Given that our focus for today will be on current events and you began working with your small group yesterday on developing a topic that you feel needs to be addressed in your community I would like you to begin the class period today by doing a quick search for an online article that relates to the topic you are planning to investigate with your group.  I would recommend checking out http://www.sfgate.com/ and/or http://www.paloaltoonline.com/ - both newspapers include plenty of local news!

For your blog, simply write 5-6 sentences describing the article and how it relates to the topic you want to expore.  This kick-off will hopefully give you some quality information to bring back to your group as you begin work on your final project.

December!!

Good Morning, Happy Monday and Welcome to the Month of December!!

It is unbelievable how quickly the semester has gone and today we enter the final 2 weeks of the first semester of your senior year!!  As a senior in high school, you have reached a point in your life where you are CLOSE to being fully independent and, with that, you have responsibilities.

What are responsibilities that come with being an adult (officially of course, not that you aren't an adult now). :)  Feel free to include both responsibilities that will fall on your shoulders but also responsbilities as a member of your community.

Thanks for your thoughtful response and we will get started shortly!!
